Our History
In 1968 Central Plastics Inc. was founded by Chester Houghton, along with Roy Swick and Virgil Anderson. CPI began with two extruders, three employees and 4,500 square feet of production and warehousing space. Currently CPI occupies 210,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing with forty-one extrusion machines and fifteen co-extrusion machines running twenty-four hours a day, five days a week, with one-hundred, sixty full-time employees. The Houghton family still owns and operates all facets of the business which is located in the same location that it began at in 1968, right in the "Heart of Kansas."
